  • SAP2000 offers a single user interface to perform modeling, analysis, design, and reporting. The SAPFire Analysis Engine can support multiple 64-bit solvers for analysis optimization and can perform both eigen analysis and Ritz analysis. Parallelization options are available to take advantage of multiple processors. DirectX graphics enable full 2D and 3D drafting and selection capability. Notable meshing features include the ability to merge independently defined meshes among frame, shell and solid objects, coordinate tessellation with object orientation, and observe material boundaries to establish effective aspect ratios. SAP2000 offers a wide range of code-based design features for steel frame, concrete frame, cold form steel, and aluminum frame.

  • RISA-3D is a general 3D analysis/design software. It contains the most current design codes for steel, concrete, cold-formed steel, masonry, aluminum and timber design codes.

  • Creo is a fully integrated, 3D CAD solution that allows engineers to seamlessly conceptualize, design, analyze, and validate products. Creo features technologies that empower design engineers to simulate and optimize products for weight, performance, cost, and sustainability, using a wide variety of materials and manufacturing processes.

  • Maxsurf Naval Architecture Software provides integrated tools for hull modelling and optimization, comprehensive stability, motions & resistance prediction, structural modelling, structural analysis, and export to vessel detailing. Maxsurf operates from a single parametric 3D model in order to ensure smooth communication and coordination across various involved in the project.

  • Delft3D is a integrated modelling suite, which simulates two-dimensional (in either the horizontal or a vertical plane) and three-dimensional flow, sediment transport and morphology, waves, water quality and ecology and is capable of handling the interactions between these processes. The suite is designed for use by domain experts and non-experts alike, which may range from consultants and engineers or contractors, to regulators and government officials, all of whom are active in one or more of the stages of the design, implementation and management cycle.

  • Rhinoceros (Rhino) is a stand-alone, commercial NURBS-based 3-D modeling tool, developed by Robert McNeel & Associates. The software is commonly used for industrial design, architecture, marine design, jewelry design, automotive design, CAD / CAM, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering as well as the multimedia and graphic design industries.

    • Simulate diffraction properties for powders and single crystals.

The site license bundle at U-M includes CrystalMaker, SingleCrystal, and CrystalDiffract.

  • Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, virtual reality, and computer games.

  • Autodesk is best known for AutoCAD, but also develops a broad range of software for design, engineering, and entertainment. The manufacturing industry uses Autodesk's digital prototyping software—including Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, and the Autodesk Product Design Suite—to visualize, simulate, and analyze real-world performance using a digital model in the design process. The Revit line of software for building information modeling is designed to let users explore the planning, construction, and management of a building virtually before it is built.
