Microsoft 365 includes:

  • The ability to install on PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.
  • OneDrive cloud storage (Note: Google Drive is recommended for U-M data)

Office 365 productivity apps can be installed on personally-owned devices.

License Information

Terms & Conditions

U-M Microsoft Office 365 is available to current University of Michigan faculty, staff, students, sponsored affiliates, and emeritus with regular (not temporary) uniqnames. Alumni and retirees are not included in the university's licensing terms with Microsoft. Eligible users can install on their personally-owned devices.

Michigan Medicine

The Microsoft 365 service for Michigan Medicine is managed separately to meet the organization's regulatory, contractual, and security requirements. The ITS-managed Microsoft 365 service for academic campuses is not permitted for Michigan Medicine business, education, patient care, or research use.

Your Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to protect university resources and data by ensuring that you use software in compliance with relevant university policies and standards, store and process all sensitive data within approved systems, and ensure equitable access to information technology for users with disabilities.
