  • A timesaving tool for automating commonly written phrases and templates. TextExpander condenses longer sentences or paragraphs into brief snippets which "expand" as you type them.

  • Scrivener is a word-processing program and outliner designed for authors. Scrivener provides a management system for documents, notes and metadata. This allows the user to organize notes, concepts, research, and whole documents for easy access and reference (documents including rich text, images, PDF, audio, video, web pages, etc.). Scrivener offers templates for screenplays, fiction, and non-fiction manuscripts.

  • Overleaf is an online LaTeX and Rich Text collaborative writing and publishing tool that makes the process of writing, editing and publishing scientific documents quick and easy.

  • The Office Professional Plus suite includes the core applications, as well as Outlook, Publisher (Windows only), Access (Windows only), and Teams (Windows only).

    • The latest Office apps, like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • The ability to install on PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.
    • OneDrive cloud storage (Note: U-M Google and Dropbox are recommended for storing U-M collaborative data.)

    Office 365 productivity apps can be installed on personally-owned devices.

  • LyX is an open source, graphical user interface document processor based on the LaTeX typesetting system. Unlike most word processors, which follow the WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") paradigm, LyX has a WYSIWYM ("what you see is what you mean") approach, where what shows up on the screen roughly depicts the semantic structure of the page and is only an approximation of the document produced by TeX.
