Stata/MP (formerly Stata/SE)

Stata is a statistical software package for data manipulation, visualization, statistics, and automated reporting. Stata/MP ("Multiprocessing") is the fastest and largest edition of Stata, with our license allowing use of 2 cores in parallel.

Please note that the former Stata/SE license managed by ITS Software Services has been replaced by Stata/MP2.

If your unit is a UmichITAM member, ask your unit IT for access to this software.

IT staff can access installers from SWDist for university-owned computers. Licenses for personally-owned computers can be purchased from the ITS Software Store.
Economics PhD students can access department-funded licenses for their personally-owned computers by placing a request in the ITS Software Store.

Terms & Conditions

Permitted uses for the Stata/MP license managed by ITS Software Services include noncommercial research, commercial research, instruction, and administration.

All campuses including Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor and remote hospitals (UM Health-Sparrow and UM Health-West) are permitted to use the license.

Consortium/Funding Info

The UmichITAM software-sharing consortium funds a license for its members to use on university-owned computers. Faculty, staff, sponsored affiliates, and students can obtain licenses for university-owned computers by requesting them from their Unit IT support.  Use on personally-owned computers requires a purchase using a Shortcode from the ITS Software Store link above. Contact [email protected] for information about joining UmichITAM.

University units not in UmichITAM can also purchase licenses from the ITS Software Store for both university-owned and personally owned computers.

Michigan Medicine and hospitals including UM Health-Sparrow and UM Health-West are eligible to use the license with a purchase from the store.
