Visual Studio Code

VSCode is a free open source cross platform text editor and IDE with a large library of extensions and built in git client. Most closely associated here with Linux programming. Unlike Visual Studio no compiler is included.

  • Use by regular employees to perform non-commercial research
  • Use by students for commercial research
  • Use by faculty for commercial research
  • Use by regular employees for commercial research
  • Use by student teams for co-curricular activities, programs, and learning experiences
  • Instructional use, using proprietary data that will not be published
