Read&Write

Read&Write is a literacy support tool that offers help with everyday tasks like reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, and proofing written work. Full versions are available for Windows and Mac computers; more limited versions are available for iPads and Android tablets.

Terms & Conditions

Read&Write may be installed on:

  • Any university-owned computer at Ann Arbor and Michigan Medicine. MiWorkspace computers can install from the Managed Software Center.
  • Any personally-owned computer belonging to a current U-M student or employee in Ann Arbor or Michigan Medicine campus. The copy must be activated, or it will expire after 25 uses. 

Flint and Dearborn have separate contracts.

Consortium/Funding Info

There is a site license for Ann Arbor campus and Michigan Medicine that allows Read&Write to be installed on any public computer, any university-owned computer, and any personal computer belonging to a current U-M student or employee.

Your Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to protect university resources and data by ensuring that you use software in compliance with relevant university policies and standards, store and process all sensitive data within approved systems, and ensure equitable access to information technology for users with disabilities.

Individuals at U-M are ultimately responsible for any infringing software on their computers or devices or for violating the terms and conditions of software licenses. Individuals are responsible for reviewing the SPG on Software Procurement and Licensing Compliance.
