The name LabVIEW is a shortened form of its description: Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench. LabVIEW is a visual programming language: it is a system-design platform and development environment that was aimed at enabling all forms of system to be developed.

  • Available to consortium members listed below in all three campuses including Michigan Medicine.
    • Different license servers provide access to a teaching or a research license. When contacting your IT support, be sure to communicate your intended use so that you are connecting to the correct server.
  • For use on university-owned equipment.
  • May not be installed on student-owned computers, however student use on university-owned equipment is permissible. (Student use on their personal machines is allowed under the LabVIEW Student Option.)
