Respondus LockDown Browser® is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system. Used at over 2000 higher educational institutions, LockDown Browser is the “gold standard” for securing online exams in classrooms or proctored environments.

Respondus Monitor® is the leading remote proctoring solution for higher education. It allows students to take online assessments from a remote location - all while ensuring the integrity of the exam process.

Respondus 4® is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle, and other learning systems. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment, or moved between different learning systems. Whether you are a veteran of online testing or relatively new to it, Respondus 4 will save you hours on each project.

Terms & Conditions

Respondus Lockdown Browser is availble to U-M Campus units who agree to an annual cost sharing recharge, and agree to provide technical support for their unit.  Units interested in using Respondus are asked to pilot the software for 1 term at no cost, after which the unit agrees to a cost sharing recharge for the next fiscal year if the unit wishes to continue use of the software.

Consortium/Funding Info

An annual recharge rate is calculated for each Respondus titler (Lockdown Browser, Montor, Respondus 4) based upon the total number of partner units who agree to the recharge rate for the subsequent fiscal year. 

Your Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to protect university resources and data by ensuring that you use software in compliance with relevant university policies and standards, store and process all sensitive data within approved systems, and ensure equitable access to information technology for users with disabilities.

Individuals at U-M are ultimately responsible for any infringing software on their computers or devices or for violating the terms and conditions of software licenses. Individuals are responsible for reviewing the SPG on Software Procurement and Licensing Compliance.
