Geometric Analysis of Sections

Geometrical Analysis of Sections – GAS2.0, provided to users by the American Iron and Steel Institute, is used to model behavior of thin walled automotive beam sections. The unique value of GAS2.0 is in the ability to model plate buckling behavior, and to estimate the load capacity of thin wall sections based on the effective section method. The primary use of GAS2.0 is by the automotive industry during the early stage design of automotive body structure. It is also used to a lesser degree in late stage to mitigate performance issues by recommending section thickness or material grade changes.
